Roar, Jarl, Roar

Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!
With flame and splintering Nordic wave,
Creak of oar and salt-cracked skin
Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!

Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!
To the grey clouds scudding the sky,
To the crabs scuttling in the mud,
To gannet, fulmar, kittiwake and tern,
Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!

Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!
Roar and burn, Jarl, roar and burn!
For death that used to live at sea
Now stalks this land
Open your mouth and roar, Jarl, roar!
